INTRODUCTION Environment Impact Assessment is a process to determine whether an implementation of a project cause harm to the environment or to the living creatures in that environment. EIA process have various steps in surveying for implementing a project. Till now we are following the procedure of EIA process as laid down under the 2006 amendment. But the parliament had now passed a draft related to EIA process and it is now left for public opinion till August 11 under the guidelines of the Ministry of Environmental Affairs. The final draft is yet to come and here we are going to discuss a brief view of EIA. HISTORY OF EIA Environment Impact Assessment also known as EIA is originated from the United States through the enactment of National Environment Policy Act (NEPA), 1970.
